Muchas veces conoces a los intérpretes de las canciones de las bandas sonoras, pero no sabes quién hay detrás, quien ha escrito esa canción. Me ha pasado a mí y me imagino que a muchos. Así que un día te pones a indagar y así fue como descubrí a Diane Warren.
Compositora que ha escrito canciones para Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Patti Labelle, Barbra Streisand, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, Johnny Mathis y un largo etc.
Algunas de sus canciones para el cine, como fue el caso de ‘How Do I Live’, de la película ‘Con Air’ (1997), han estado semanas en las listas de éxitos más importantes.
Nacio en California, su padre fue quien fomentó sus sueños de niña para convertirse en compositora de canciones. A los diez años le compró una guitarra Martin de 12 cuerdas (son guitarras acústicas con una octava más alta que la otra). Hay que tener buenos dedos para apretar las cuerdas y que suene bien, y lo sé por experiencia.
‘Cuando escribo una canción, dice la compositora, estoy en mi estudio trabajando durante una semana. Me gustan las melodías interesantes y acordes que me emocionen. El truco es hacer que las cosas suenen sencillas, aunque armónicamente sean complejas. Me inspiré en mucha gente, como Burt Bacharach y los Beatles. Ellos tenían ese don de hacer que las canciones sonaran tan natural que no puedas imaginar que la canción podría haber sido diferente’.
